Authors to Speak at Library Benefit

Share

To raise money for books and other reading materials, the Anaheim Public Library Foundation is sponsoring a luncheon Sunday featuring three authors.

The authors attending the “South by Southwest” event, to take place from noon to 3:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Anaheim, are J.A. Jance, Jo-Ann Mapson and Louis Owens.

They will share their writing experiences and give an insight on the work involved in crafting a novel. Those attending the event will have the chance to ask the authors questions and a book signing will be held following the program.

Cost is $35 a person. Local business and city leaders will serve as celebrity waiters for the event.

Jim Hathcock, foundation vice president, said the nonprofit group is filling the gap left by dwindling allocations from city and other government sources.

Formed in 1995, the foundation’s goal is to ensure that the Anaheim Public Library meets the challenge of increasing use and decreasing public funding.

The foundation also hopes to raise a permanent endowment of $1 million by the library’s centennial in 2002.
