The majority of Dale Junior High School parents who returned a recent survey said they would support a plan to establish a school uniform policy.

Anaheim Union High School District Assistant Supt. Craig Haugen said about 75% of parents who returned the survey indicated they would be in favor of students wearing uniforms to school. Nearly 40% of parents returned the survey.

The district is expected to hold a public hearing May 8 on whether to allow Dale to organize the uniform policy.

A committee of parents, teachers and students will recommend a style for uniforms, Principal John Douglas said. He said he would like to see uniforms with several color options for shirts, rather than the traditional blue pants and white shirt.

Douglas said a rough cost estimate for uniforms would be about $12 for shirts and $14 for pants, shorts and skirts. The district plans to provide economic help for families who need assistance.
