Francisco J. de Soto; Music Instructor

Music instructor Francisco J. de Soto of Ventura died Saturday at a local hospital after a brief illness. He was 69.
A 15-year resident of Ventura County, he was born Oct. 28, 1927, in Boston. He graduated from UCLA with a degree in music and was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity.
De Soto became a teacher and later served as director of Language World, a private school in Ventura. He also taught in the language department of St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo.
De Soto is survived by his wife, Beverly; son Mario; daughters Alicia and Cecilia; stepsons Chris and John; stepdaughters Pat and Joan; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A vigil will be held today at 7 p.m. at Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Ventura. Interment will follow in Santa Clara Cemetery in Oxnard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Seminarian’s Education Fund at St. John’s Seminary, 5012 E. Seminary Road, Camarillo 93012.
Arrangements are under the direction of Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura.
