Whittaker Taps Barrantes as Chief Financial Officer

Whittaker Corp. in Simi Valley has named Charles E. Barrantes as vice president and chief financial officer.
Barrantes, 44, will report to Whittaker Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Joseph F. Alibrandi.
Barrantes joins Whittaker with extensive experience in finance and administration. Most recently, he was executive vice president and CFO at Thompson PBE, a NASDAQ-traded distributor of automotive products, and vice president, controller and secretary at Superior Industries International Inc., a $500-million firm that makes products for the automotive industry.
Earlier in his career, Barrantes was vice president of finance for MICA Resources, an $80-million aluminum processing and trading company, and senior audit manager with Arthur Andersen & Co. He is a certified public accountant and a business administration graduate of Loyola University in Los Angeles.
Whittaker Corp. provides high-tech and engineering products and services to the aerospace and communications markets. Earlier this month, the company said it may sell as many as three divisions to concentrate on its core aerospace business and pay off as much as $50 million of its $146 million in debt.
