Vander Dussen Named Development Director

Sheri Vander Dussen, a 10-year city employee, has been appointed director of community development.

She succeeds Robert Johnson, who left the city in September. Her appointment became effective last week.

Vander Dussen, a Fountain Valley resident, began her career in city government in 1981 when she joined the city of Newport Beach as an associate planner. She came to work in Irvine in 1986 as a senior planner and during her tenure has held the positions of principal planner and manager of planning and development.

“Sheri will continue the quality work ethic that has led her to be respected by those she works for and the staff who work with her,” City Manager Paul O. Brady said. “She will lead the Department of Community Development into the next century, continuing to place Irvine at the forefront of community planning and development.”
