Share

The Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence is seeking volunteers for its anti-violence programs.

Thrice-weekly training sessions will begin Monday and last six weeks. Participants must first be accepted through an application and interview process. Training sessions will run Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Participants will be certified in crisis intervention through the state Office of Criminal Justice Planning.

Certified volunteers then will be able to choose which of the coalition’s anti-violence programs they would like to join.

Programs include sexual assault crisis counselors, shelter volunteers, hotline counselors, community outreach positions and the Domestic Abuse Response Team, in which volunteers accompany police officers on domestic violence calls to offer support and referrals to abuse victims.

Training sessions will be held at the coalition’s headquarters at 2064 Eastman Ave., Suite 104, Ventura.

For an information packet, including an application and details about the center’s programs, call 654-8141.
