City Seeks Applicants for Two Commissions
Since terms of office on two city commissions will expire on July 1, residents interested in serving are encouraged to apply.
Incumbents will be given the opportunity to request reappointment, but new applications may be submitted for the following:
* Planning Commission, which has two openings. It meets the second and fourth Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. and acts on development applications, such as use permits and variances, and is advisory to the City Council on zone changes and code amendments. Commissioners receive $50 a month for their services.
* Recreation and Parks Commission, two openings. It meets the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m. and advises the council on policy matters relating to parks and recreation programs and plans for seasonal recreational activities. It recommends rules and regulations for use of city park and recreation facilities. Commissioners receive $25 a month for their services. One of the openings on the seven-member panel is for a high school student. Interested students should contact their high school principals, who recommend students to the city.
