From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Investigators in the slaying of 10-year-old Anthony Martinez said Tuesday they have part of a possible license plate number for the white vehicle driven by his abductor. The California plate may begin with “2ESL,” but the last three digits remain unknown, said Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mark Lohman. The sergeant said the information came from “leads,” but he declined to elaborate. The information came one day after investigators completed their search of a home in Yucaipa about 10 minutes west of where the Beaumont boy was abducted April 4. Lohman would not say what prompted deputies to search the one-story house. Six people in the home were interviewed voluntarily Sunday. Lohman said the people were never suspects. A white car and several other unspecified items were taken from the home.
