Cypress’ Reintjes Holds Off Riverside for First Save

Reliever Darin Reintjes earned his first save, striking out five in 2 1/3 innings of hitless relief, to preserve Cypress’ 6-4 victory over Riverside in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Tuesday at Cypress.

Also contributing to the victory was pitcher Brian Snapp (3-0), Craig Kuzmic, who hit his 10th home run and had three RBIs, and Scott Daeley, who had two hits and two stolen bases for Cypress (32-9-1, 15-7 in conference).

The Chargers scored six runs in the first two innings, but managed only an infield single and a hit batsman against Cody Trask in the final seven innings.

Riverside is 33-98, 14-8.

In other conference games:

Saddleback 9, Orange Coast 1--Greg Ferrell hit a grand slam in the second inning, his seventh home run, and Pat Versluis earned his seventh victory for the Gauchos (33-7, 16-7). Johnny Nguyen had two hits and two RBIs for Saddleback.

Chris Ponchak was three for four with a double for Orange Coast (12-28, 4-18).

Fullerton 11, Golden West 4--Brian Logan hit three home runs and had four RBIs for Fullerton (21-21, 7-16). Dan Gusman had four hits, including two doubles, for the Hornets.

Kevin Stuart had three hits and four RBIs for Golden West (12-28, 4-18).
