Rockwell Division Appoints Executive

* Vijay Parikh has been appointed vice president and general manager of Rockwell Semiconductor Systems’ Multimedia Communications division in Newport Beach. He succeeds Armando Geday, who left Rockwell to join GlobeSpan Corp. as its chief executive. Parikh has been with Rockwell since 1982, most recently as vice president and general manager of the company’s Wireless Communications division.

* Stephen Runnels has joined NeoTherapeutics Inc., an Irvine drug development company, in the newly created position of executive vice president, with responsibility for corporate development strategy, strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions. Runnels’ prior experience includes marketing, business development and strategic planning positions at Sigma-Aldrich Inc., Irvine Scientific and Gamma Biologicals.

* Bob Moffit has been appointed vice president, marketing and product management, for the Motorcycle division of Kawasaki Motors Corp. U.S.A. in Irvine. Moffit, a 21-year Kawasaki veteran, had been vice president, sales. The Watercraft division will be headed by Barry Beehler, who had been vice president, marketing. His new title is vice president, marketing and product management, watercraft division. Mark Kelly will assume the position of director, marketing and product management, ATV/Utility/Power Products division. Kelly had been serving as director, new business development, and has 19 years of management experience. Also, Paul Trotta was named vice president, sales, with responsibility for all product lines. He was formerly director of sales.

* Scott McClure has been named business development manager for Millie and Severson Inc., a Los Alamitos general contracting and building company. He was previously sales manager for Industrial Powers Systems Inc. in Torrance.

* Linda C. Reddick has joined Linfinity Microelectronics Inc. in Garden Grove, a subsidiary of SymmetriCom Inc., as vice president of finance. She was formerly controller for Linfinity and manager for the SymmetriCom Corporate Finance Group.

* Kathy Knight has been named managing director of Northern Trust Bank’s Orange County office. She will oversee the private bank, trust, investment management, real estate and operation units. Knight joined the bank in 1995 as vice president, senior fiduciary manager.

* Seth Feller has been appointed senior account executive for Brower, Miller & Cole, a Newport Beach marketing and public relations firm. He joined the company in 1996 as an account executive. Feller has also worked at the Blaine Group, Sutton-Saltzman-Schwartz, Columbia Pictures and Warner Bros.

* Gregory S. Lane has been appointed senior vice president and general counsel for Bristol Technology Systems Inc. in Irvine. Lane was previously associated with the law firms of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering in Washington and Latham & Watkins in Costa Mesa.

* Garrett Jones has joined Orthodyne Electronics in Irvine as senior applications engineer. He had been with Palomar Industries in Carlsbad for 15 years, most recently as senior applications engineer. Orthodyne manufactures wire bonding equipment for the semiconductor and automotive industrial marketing.

* Elliot P. Friedman has been named chairman and chief executive of PharmaPrint Inc., an Irvine developer and manufacturer of pharmaceutical versions of herbal medicines. He was previously president and chief executive. Robert J. Burgess, previously executive vice president and chief operating officer, was named president and chief operating officer. PharmaPrint co-founder Tasneem A. Khwaja, previously chairman and chief scientific officer, will remain as director and chief scientific officer. Michael S. Tempesta has been appointed senior vice president of research. Tempesta was formerly chief scientific officer of Larex Inc. Before that, he served in various capacities including chief scientific officer and senior vice president of research for Shaman Pharmaceuticals.

* Brett W. Sperry has been named president of worldwide development for Virgin Interactive Entertainment, an Irvine publisher of interactive entertainment software. He will remain president of the company’s Las Vegas-based Westwood Studios.

* Lauriann Meyer has been appointed customer satisfaction and telemarketing operations manager at Xerox Corp.’s South Coast operations in Santa Ana. Meyer, who has been with Xerox for 26 years, had been marketing and training manager for Xerox Supplies.

* Dean A. Gehrman has been named vice president of sales and marketing for Brown Disc Products Co. Inc. in Santa Ana. He was previously at California Quartz for six years. In addition, Richard Weir has joined the board of directors. He was also with California Quartz in San Jose.
