George Taylor; Water Plant Operator, Veteran

George Taylor, a Ventura resident for 48 years, died Thursday after a long battle with cancer. He was 72.
Taylor was born March 7, 1925, in Roby, Texas. For 30 years he operated a water plant at Point Mugu Navy base. He also worked as a derrick man for 10 years in the Ventura oil fields.
Taylor, who served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marlys, and his daughter, Marla Taylor, both of Ventura.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a memorial donation to the Ventura Chapter of the American Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Joseph Reardon Funeral Home, 757 E. Main St. in Ventura.
