William P. Kasimoff; Piano and Harpsichord Dealer

William P. Kasimoff, 75, piano and harpsichord dealer and tuner. Born in Los Angeles to Russian immigrant parents, Kasimoff was himself a musician, playing the clarinet with the San Gabriel Symphony. He learned the art of piano tuning as an apprentice. For 34 years, Kasimoff was the only licensed U.S. dealer for German Bluthner pianos and Neupert harpsichords. His Kasimoff-Bluthner Piano Co., first located in Pasadena and now at 337 N. Larchmont Blvd. in Los Angeles, will continue, run by his wife, Helga, and their three sons, Sergei, Ivan and Kyril. A connoisseur of classical music, Kasimoff reminded his wife a day before his death that his favorite Bach cantata mirroring his philosophy was “I Am Content With My Good Fortune.” His clients ranged from opera stars to rock musicians and included 20 orchestras, among them the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.
