First there was the television show. Now there’s the Millennium--Orange County style.
The Orange County Business Council wants to use the coming of the year 2000 as a theme for a two-year promotional effort to bring the county to the world’s attention. Details haven’t been discussed yet, but over the next six months a plan will be formulated, said Ken Moore, executive vice president of the council’s economic development division.
Likening the promotional opportunity to the Olympics or a World’s Fair, Moore said the Millennium project might include international conferences on tourism, technology or health care.
“This is not planned to be a party,” he said. “But it’s planned to capture a number of events that generate a wide amount of global recognition for Orange County.”
Also still to be determined, Moore said, are sources of financial support for these events.
