Sherman event--A story Tuesday gave an incorrect day for Rep. Brad Sherman’s talk to the board of trustees of the Conejo/Las Virgenes Future Foundation. Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks) will present his vision for the region by the year 2020 at 7:30 a.m. Thursday in the conference center of Juan Bautista de Anza Park, at the corner of Lost Hills and Las Virgenes roads in Calabasas.

Board chairman Jeff Reinhardt said the topic grew out of the foundation’s Vision 2020 study, conducted from 1989 to 1992 on six local issues: transportation, housing, regional government, solid waste, endangered environment and water.

The city managers of Agoura Hills and Calabasas have discussed the issue with Future Foundation members, and more will be scheduled in the coming months, organizers said. In addition to the board meetings, the foundation has scheduled a forum in September to discuss the alliance among parents, teachers, students, businesses, government and civic leaders in education.

“The Community As a Campus” will bring together educators, law enforcement, business people and youth service workers to discuss how the whole community can have a hand in educating its children, organizers said.

Wednesday’s meeting will be held 7:30 to 9 a.m. in the conference center of Juan Bautista de Anza Park, at the corner of Lost Hills and Las Virgenes roads. For information on both events or to get a copy of the Vision 2020 report, call the foundation at (818) 597-9129 or (805) 495-8711.
