Local police officers, firefighters and Home Depot employees will distribute free child safety identification kits in the parking lots of Ventura County Home Depot stores from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Sponsored by Home Depot as part of its annual Child Safety Awareness Day, the event will be held at stores throughout Southern California including the two in Ventura County at 2600 Vineyard Ave. in Oxnard and at 500 N. Ventu Park Road in Thousand Oaks.
Each location will feature food, drinks and other activities for children as well as information about the identification kits and how to best protect children.
Developed in 1992 by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the identification kits will include recent photographs of the child and other information.
For more information, call the Oxnard Home Depot at 988-1911, or the Thousand Oaks store at 498-2278.
