A stabbing victim who sought treatment for multiple wounds at a local emergency room refused to tell Ventura police how he was injured, officers said Monday.
Matthew Habberfield, 19, of Ventura was admitted to the Ventura County Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, hospital officials said.
Police believe he was involved in an earlier incident at 1:30 p.m. at the China Sea Restaurant at 1105 S. Seaward Ave., Ventura. Although officers responding to reports of a disturbance found a large amount of blood on the floor near the restaurant’s front door, the owner of the restaurant denied that anything unusual had occurred, police said.
As officers investigated the incident, Habberfield arrived at the hospital, police said. He was uncooperative and refused to give any information about the stabbing.
