“Juneteenth,” the third annual play festival by Blacksmyths, the Mark Taper Forum’s black playwrights project, is being presented today through Sunday at the Los Angeles Theatre Center.

The festival title comes from the celebration of the freeing of the last black slaves in Texas in June 1865.

This year’s festival features the readings of six new plays.

Tonight’s reading is at 8 p.m.; Saturday readings, 1, 4 and 8 p.m.; Sunday, 1 and 4 p.m.

All readings are at LATC’s Theatre Two, 541 S. Spring St., downtown Los Angeles. Admission is free.
