Gehry, Disney Hall Leaders Meet to Discuss Differences

Architect Frank O. Gehry and leaders behind Walt Disney Concert Hall--planned new home at the Music Center for the Los Angeles Philharmonic--met for 2 1/2 hours Thursday to discuss whether Gehry will continue to be involved with the project. There was no resolution but some progress, according to sources close to the project.

The meeting took place at Gehry’s Santa Monica headquarters, and followed threats by Gehry this week to withdraw his participation in the wake of a decision by Disney Hall leaders to proceed in a building process that Gehry believes might not allow him to complete work he feels essential to safeguard his unusual design.

At the meeting were Eli Broad, Disney Hall fund-raising co-chairman; Gehry and his attorney, Robert Long; Diane Disney Miller, daughter of lead donor Lillian B. Disney; Miller’s husband, Ron Miller, and several other key officials.
