Free seminars on subjects ranging from financial aid to stress management will be offered Wednesday to adults considering returning to school when Mission College hosts its sixth annual conference for reentry students.

At the free event, “Choices, Changes and Challenges,” a free event sponsored by Mission’s New Horizons Program, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the college’s Campus Center.

“There will be seminars on what one needs to know when returning to college, how to find a successful career fit and how to set goals and achieve success,” said program director Geri Shapiro. “Other seminars will include study tips and techniques, budgeting and money management, how to handle stress and how to handle dual roles as parent and student.”

Attendees will select three seminars from among nine subjects to attend during the conference. Other seminar topics include presentation skills, nutrition, and recognizing and overcoming addictive behaviors.

A panel of students who recently returned to school will also answer questions and offer advice to those considering returning, Shapiro said.

“Hearing from people like themselves--people of all ages--can be a big help in overcoming the fear of coming back,” Shapiro said.
