Longtime City Analyst to Lead Housing Agency

Share

Mayor Richard Riordan on Friday named a longtime Los Angeles analyst to temporarily head the city’s troubled Housing Department when current chief Gary Squier resigns July 1.

Garry Pinney, 54, of Glendale was chosen by Riordan to head the department for at least 120 days or until a permanent replacement is found through a nationwide search. Pinney has worked for the city since 1970 in many capacities, but mostly as an administrative analyst. Since 1993, he has served as chief administrative analyst on housing and economic development issues for the city.

Squier announced his resignation last month, less than a week after release of a critical audit of the earthquake loan program he oversaw.
