New Chairman for Bank of Yorba Linda

* H. Rhoads Martin Jr. has been named chairman of the Bank of Yorba Linda. He succeeds John C. Coelho, who is retiring. Coelho had been chairman since the company’s start in 1980. Martin, president and chief executive of the Martin Cos., has been on the Bank of Yorba Linda board for six years.

* Rein Kutsch Lojenga will assume the position of president, Europe and Central Asia for Irvine-based Fluor Daniel Inc. in October. He succeeds Carel Smeets, who has announced his retirement. Kutsch Lojenga joined Fluor Daniel in 1972 and has held various positions in engineering and project management. For the past two years, he has been vice president of European operations.

* Matt Massengill has been appointed senior vice president and general manager of Western Digital Corp.’s Enterprise Storage Group in Irvine. He is the first permanent general manager of the group that produces hard drives. Massengill joined Western Digital in 1985, serving most recently as vice president of marketing for the Personal Storage Group.

* Bruce Beach has been appointed chief operating officer at Arnette Optic Illusions in San Clemente, a subsidiary of Bausch & Lomb. He has been with the company, a manufacturer of sunglasses and goggles, since its beginning in 1992, most recently as director of U.S. and international sales. In addition, John Gothard has joined Arnette as director of sales and marketing. He was previously director of sales at SMP Clothing.

* Kenneth M. Smith has joined the board of Wonderware Corp., an Irvine developer of industrial automation software, increasing the number of directors to six. Smith is the chairman and chief executive of International Management & Development Group Ltd., which focuses on domestic and international employment, education and economic development.

* John Chaffetz has been named senior vice president of sales for Admor Memory Corp., an Irvine add-on-memory manufacturer. Chaffetz was formerly chief operating officer of Granada Royale (Embassy Suites) national hotel chain and managing general partner of the Los Angeles Aztecs North American Soccer League. Before that, he was vice president of the Arizona Wrangler’s U.S. Football League and owner/operator of several new car and truck dealerships.

* Jerrell Baird has joined Prosoft I-Net Solutions Inc., a Santa Ana Internet/intranet training company, as chief operating officer. He was formerly chief information officer of IBM’s Consumer Product division.

* Judy Shinnefield has joined Essex Realty Management Inc. in Costa Mesa as a senior property manager. She has 16 years of management experience, including 13 years as an asset manager with Koll Management Services.

* Susan DeGrassi has been appointed vice president at Merit Property Management Inc. in Mission Viejo. DeGrassi, who has been with Merit since 1984, will oversee public relations and marketing-related special projects, as well as new business development, recruiting and association newsletters.

* Perry Cain has been appointed manager of community relations for McDonnell Douglas Space & Defense Systems in Huntington Beach. In his new role, he will represent the company in Huntington Beach and Orange County civic matters and be responsible for its local philanthropic activities. Cain joined the company from Harrah’s Entertainment in Memphis, where he was director of government relations. Prior to that, he served on the staff of U.S. Sen. Don Nickles (R-Okla.), where he handled the senator’s Appropriations Committee responsibilities relating to the aerospace industry.

* David Placek has joined Psomas & Associates in Costa Mesa as a director. He will focus on infrastructure planning, feasibility and economics for new communities. He was previously with Post, Buckley, Schuh and Jernigan. Placek was also senior project manager for Disney Development Co.

* Grace Yasumura has been named a production artist for RiechesBaird Advertising in Huntington Beach. She was previously a freelance graphic design artist, working for Muts & Joy & Inc. in New York and Graphic Atlanta III in Anaheim.

* Gary Hancock has been appointed director, quality assurance for Linfinity Microelectronics Inc. in Garden Grove, a subsidiary of SymmetriCom Inc. He has been with Linfinity for 18 years, where he has held the position of quality assurance manager. Hancock was previously quality assurance manager for TRW Semiconductor and manufacturing manager and quality assurance manager for Teledyne Semiconductor.

* Karen Kazemi has been named color network marketing executive at Xerox’s South Coast operations in Santa Ana. She had been at Xerox in Chicago for six years.

* Cathy Vicari has been appointed director of worldwide sales for Lantronix, an Irvine provider of connectivity products. Vicari has been with Lantronix for the last five years as director of North American channels. Before joining the company, she was with Wyle Laboratories and Western Digital Corp.

* Jim Rollans has been named campaign chairman for the 1997-98 United Way Community Campaign. Rollans is senior vice president and chief administrative officer for Fluor Corp.

* Glenn Vonrhein has been appointed national sales manager for Panel Concepts Inc., a Santa Ana manufacturer of office systems and furniture. Vonrhein, who joined the company in 1995, had been Western regional sales manager.

* John H. Thompson Jr. has joined Shafer, an advertising and public relations agency, as controller. He will be responsible for financial services for both the San Francisco and Irvine offices. Thompson was formerly assistant controller at Bozell Worldwide Inc. in Costa Mesa.
