A small plane clipped trees and power lines before crashing into a house, bursting into flames and killing the two people aboard. In a separate accident 200 miles away, a single-engine plane crashed into a field in Poygan, also killing two people.

The homeowner in the first crash was asleep at the time and was not injured. No other homes were damaged in New Richmond, which is about 200 miles northwest of Poygan.

A witness to the second accident said the plane sounded like it was having engine trouble before crashing in Poygan, a town near Oshkosh, Sheriff’s Lt. Gerald Cottrell said.
