Amwest Posts $1.3-Million Net Income in 2nd Quarter

Amwest Insurance Group Inc. posted a $1.3 million net income in its second quarter, compared with a $1.3 million loss a year ago.

The Woodland-Hills based specialty property and casualty company posted $28.2 million in premiums written--which is similar to revenues--in its June 30 quarter, up 10% from $25.7 million a year ago.

For the six months, Amwest posted a net income of $3.1 million, compared with a net loss of $1.2 million a year earlier. Premiums written climbed during the period to $49.8 million, up 2% from $49 million a year ago.
