Business Group Seeks Award Nominations

Nominations for the 1997 Woman of Achievement awards are being sought by the Buena Center Business and Professional Women/USA, according to chapter President Angela Gaudreau.

Any woman who has “made an outstanding contribution to the community or served the women of Ventura or Santa Barbara counties in important ways over the past five years” is eligible for nomination, she said.

“Nominees don’t need to be prominent--anyone doing beneficial work on behalf of women will be considered,” Gaudreau said. “We’ll accept nominations through Sept. 2.”

Individuals, organizations or a candidate herself may submit entries in the following categories: education/educators, media, nonprofit and public health.

The national women’s group has more than 70,000 members nationally and 200,000 worldwide, with the goal of improving the lives of working women.
