Share

Navy officials will hold a public meeting Thursday morning to discuss Point Mugu’s plans to increase missile testing and recent job cuts at Port Hueneme.

The Base Community Council is set to meet at 8 a.m. in the Camarillo City Council Chambers, 601 Carmen Drive. The group, which includes numerous local military officials, holds public meetings four times a year to discuss military issues that affect Ventura County. Officials from Point Mugu, who want to expand missile testing on the base’s Sea Range, will talk about the ongoing environmental study of their plans.

Representatives from the Naval Construction Battalion Center at Port Hueneme will give an update on the elimination of about 100 civilian jobs at the base that were announced this spring. For information, call Doris Lance at Point Mugu, 989-9094.
