Dreamworks SKG, the multimedia production company, went to South-Central Los Angeles Monday to showcase entertainment industry jobs.

Twenty students between 12 and 18 will participate in a six-week workshop under the supervision of camera operators, film editors, lighting directors and other professionals, organizers said. The students also will work as interns on a film or television project.

The pilot job-training effort, called the Entertainment Industry Training Program, is being run by the Concerned Citizens of South Central Los Angeles’ Youth Outreach and Development Services center.

“I think it’s a good program because it’s going to help students to know about all the jobs in entertainment,” said Maria Perez, 14, one of the participants.

Most of the 20 students were selected based on their school attendance, citizenship, work habits and personal interview. A few who were considered at-risk also were accepted, said program director Dorez Douglas.
