Hugo Belanger and Bob Thurston recorded hat tricks at the Pond on Thursday night to lead the Anaheim Bullfrogs to a 12-4 victory over the New Jersey Rockin’ Rollers in the opening game of the Roller Hockey International Murphy Cup.

Victor Gervais and Doug McCarthy each had a goal and three assists for the Bullfrogs, who equaled their season high in goals.

Anaheim scored five unanswered goals in the third quarter to take command of the game.

The series shifts to New Jersey on Sunday, where a 12-minute mini-game will take place if the Rockin’ Rollers take the second game of the series. Four of six RHI playoff series this season have been decided in the mini-game.
