A new anti-gang program serving Pasadena and Altadena will receive a two-year funding allocation of $211,000 as part of a $21.4-million federal block grant to Los Angeles County, officials said Monday.

The Community Law Enforcement and Recovery program, or CLEAR, officially opened Monday at 396 W. Washington Blvd. in Pasadena, about a mile from the Altadena border.

“Criminals cross community borders,” county Supervisor Mike Antonovich said in a statement. “Now, law enforcement will be able to cross borders through an aggressive regional program.”

The center is staffed by two sheriff’s deputies, two Pasadena police officers, a deputy district attorney and a probation officer who will work to step up anti-gang law enforcement efforts in the community.

The bulk of the grant will go toward other county programs, including enhancement of current gang intervention programs, the improvement of jails, an increase in court security and other law enforcement programs, said Lori Howard, an aide to Antonovich.
