Trio Carrying Scoring Load

Share

The Bruins, who had a relatively balanced scoring attack last season, have started the season with the trio of Baron Davis, Toby Bailey and J.R. Henderson doing most of the scoring.

In the three games of the Great Alaska Shootout, Davis averaged a team-high 18.3 points, Henderson 18 and Bailey 17.7. That means the threesome combined for 65.9% of UCLA’s 82-point average.

No other Bruin reached double digits in any of the three games. Last season, five Bruins averaged at least 10 points a game.

The imbalance should be alleviated by the return of Kris Johnson, who apparently will be activated for the Bruins’ home opener Dec. 13 against Cal State Fullerton but will miss Saturday’s game against New Mexico at the Pond of Anaheim in the Wooden Classic.
