Re “South Lake Project Roils the Waters in Pasadena,” Nov. 26:
To learn that the quality of life of Pasadena’s “conservative bluebloods” is threatened by the prospect of South Lake Avenue development gives me pause. I cannot help but wonder if such a nostalgic view of the past--combined with the sustained neglect of city officials--is not partly responsible for the unchecked deterioration of other parts of the city, most notably North Lake and North Fair Oaks avenues.
In a city as small as Pasadena, one would think it self-evident that even the best interests of the town’s self-appointed elites would be well served by a concern for the overall quality of life in the city.
