Grants Awarded to Family, Youth Groups
PacificCare Foundation recently gave $15,500 in grants to two area charities.
We Care, which helps families in need, received $8,000. Sponsored by local churches, the program assists low-income people in emergency situations with food, shelter, clothing, medication, transportation and help finding employment.
The Los Alamitos Youth Center, which provides social, recreational and educational programs for children 18 months to 18 years old, received $7,500. Activities at the center include an after-school homework clinic, a club for middle school students, recreational gymnastics, music lessons, leadership development, summer camp and programs promoting drug and alcohol prevention.
Both organizations serve residents throughout North County.
