A panel of 10 experts from some of the nation’s most prestigious universities will participate in a panel discussion today on how public policy issues such as Proposition 209 affect Los Angeles’ Latino community.

The Harvard Civil Rights Project and the Tomas Rivera Policy Institute, a research center, will sponsor the event at the Hotel Intercontinental. The topics will include “Shrinking Rights of Alien Residents” and “Proposition 209 and Latino College Enrollment in California.” Among the panelists are professors from UC Berkeley, Stanford, the University of Illinois and Harvard University.

“We want to stir up community awareness on these important issues,” said Anthony Montoya of the Tomas Rivera Institute.
