The Los Angeles County Museum of Art will screen the controversial, rarely seen “Salt of the Earth” (1953), about a strike by Chicano miners in New Mexico, tonight at 7:30 in Bing Theater. The film is part of the museum’s “Revisiting the Blacklist Era” series.

It was produced by blacklisted writer Paul Jarrico, who was killed in a car crash on Oct. 28, the day after appearing at a 50th anniversary memorial to blacklisted filmmakers and actors. Jean Butler, Norma Barman and Robert Lees are scheduled to share their memories of Jarrico. Also screening is Paul Strand’s classic documentary “Native Land.”
