As I read Howard Rosenberg’s column on the success of the ultra-sleazy “Jerry Springer Show” (“From the ‘Springer’ Files . . . ,” Dec. 3), I kept thinking of the statement attributed to P.T. Barnum: “Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public.”
