Chamber Plans Party to Open New Offices

The Chatsworth Chamber of Commerce has new offices, a move that was three years in the making.

To celebrate, the chamber plans a grand opening ceremony Monday and an open house Jan. 14.

Located in the Chatsworth Metrolink Depot, the new office “will make it more accessible to chamber members and nonprofit organizations in the community,” said Pam Campeau, the chamber’s executive director.

“We have a better opportunity to reach out to a larger audience in the community and provide better information and services for them,” she said. With its proximity to the area’s Metrolink station, the office location provides easier access for those who use public transportation, she said.

Moreover, Campeau said, plenty of parking spaces north and south of the station will also make it easier for those commuting by car.

The new office features a large conference room and the Hal Bernson Community Room, named after the Los Angeles councilman whose district includes Chatsworth.

“He was influential getting us the site, so in his honor we named the community room after him,” Campeau said.

Dignitaries attending the ceremony include Bernson, Sen. Cathie Wright (R-Simi Valley), Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon (R-Santa Clarita), Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks) and former Assemblywoman Paula Boland, a member of the Los Angeles City Charter Reform Commission.

The public is invited to the 9 a.m. ceremony and may tour the new facility at 10038 Old Depot Plaza Road, Campeau said.
