Our Town, Downtown
We chose to do a downtown Los Angeles weekend just like Kelly Scott’s (“Downtown for ‘Rent’ ,” Nov. 2) since we also had tickets for “Rent.” But we selected a $129-per-night room at the Biltmore, with its complimentary full breakfast and free parking. Although we did spend more on dinner--our elegant and well-served meal was at the Biltmore restaurant, Bernard’s--our total was not a lot more than Scott’s. The historical and cultural landmark Biltmore is a gem, and each public room is a feast for the eyes.
It was a real treat to walk the streets of downtown, viewing the marvelous architecture. Our two-hour visit to the L.A. Public Library was not long enough. It is a masterpiece in itself.
