In the Loop

Share

As with many things in Los Angeles, even riding a bike is done in a crowd.

Perched atop road bicycles, riders in brightly colored helmets and Lycra jerseys work out by making laps around the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The group of about 30 to 50 cyclists meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings to ride the loop, which is exactly three miles and runs along West Drive to Washington Boulevard to Rosemont Avenue to Seco Street. When riders maintain a fast pace, it takes less than 10 minDtes to complete the loop.

The riders share the road with skaters, moms with strollers and--when they pass--create a sound similar to a rushing river.
