City, Founders Society Weigh New Proposal

Share

The City Council today will consider renewing its lease with the Placentia Founders Society for the group’s use of the historic Bradford House.

For more than 20 years, the group has worked at restoring the city-owned house, built in 1902 by the city’s founder, citrus grower A.S. Bradford. The 15-room house is open to the public for tours, weddings and other special events.

Under the proposed five-year agreement, the city will provide fire insurance, but the nonprofit group must have its own fire insurance for the home’s contents and must provide general liability insurance. The city will assist in those costs up to $5,000 a year. The rental payment would be $1 for the term of the agreement.

The council also will consider a plan to build 132 homes on 22 1/2 acres south of Alta Vista Street.
