A former New York City policeman was sentenced Monday to 20 years to life in prison for an off-duty killing that ended a fight over a parking space.

Richard D. DiGuglielmo, 32, was convicted of murdering Charles Campbell, who had parked his car in a patrons-only lot outside the DiGuglielmo family deli in Dobbs Ferry.

When Campbell came out of a pizzeria, deli owner Richard B. DiGuglielmo, the policeman’s father, confronted him.

A fight broke out and Campbell was held down and punched by both DiGuglielmos and an in-law.

Campbell was able to get up, grab a baseball bat from his car and hit the older DiGuglielmo in the leg.

The policeman then shot Campbell three times, though most witnesses said Campbell was backing up at the time, not swinging the bat.

The father and the in-law, Robert Errico, were acquitted of assault.
