Leaf Blowers

Share

The Dec. 14 column by Robert A. Jones, “We May Blow It Again,” was interesting and informative on the problem of leaf blowers but as usual one important fact/opinion was omitted: Rakes and brooms do a better job, they are much less expensive, very quiet, not health hazards and approximately as fast (especially when you consider that the leaves are removed rather than blown to your neighbor’s yard).

Let’s face it, the leaf blower is a powerful phallic symbol. It is very unfortunate that this has become a race/class issue rather than the pollution problem it truly is.

I sincerely appreciate these hard-working gardeners and would support them in the formation of a union for their protection.
