County Fair Fills Floriculture Post
Meet a real Green thumb.
Kelly Green of Costa Mesa has been selected to oversee the Orange County Fair’s floriculture department at the summer fair.
Using professional contacts through the California Assn. of Nurserymen, Green, 35, has secured millions of dollars in free decorative plants for the fair over the years, officials said. She also lent a hand with landscape designs.
Fair officials said Green’s volunteer work won her the floriculture post.
“I’ve always loved coming to the fair,” she said. “I usually return about five times during its run.”
Green said she began working in horticulture, plant ornamentation, gardening and related fields about 11 years ago.
This year’s fair theme is “We’re in the Pink,” a tribute to fuchsia plants, so Green’s role will have added importance for the July 10-26 fair run.
