An 18-year-old man was stabbed in front of Venice High School on Wednesday afternoon in what police said appeared to be a gang-related attack.
The victim, whose name was withheld, was stabbed in the abdomen at 3:38 p.m. by an assailant whom witnesses said was a gang member, according to Police Sgt. Tim Ennis said. It was not immediately known if the victim is a student.
He was transported to a hospital and was undergoing surgery Wednesday evening.
Police are looking for the attacker, who fled.
“It’s been real quiet here in the last of couple months,” said Ennis, who added that he was unaware of any recent gang-related incidents at Venice High.
