Atlanta Finds Glory With Late Scoring Surge
Nicky McCrimmon made two three-point baskets in the final 48 seconds, leading the Atlanta Glory to a 70-65 victory over the Columbus Quest on Sunday night.
McCrimmon came off the bench to score 15 points for the Glory (11-13), which drew a team-record crowd of 5,367 at Atlanta. Player-coach Teresa Edwards added 14 points.
Tonya Edwards scored 19 points for Columbus (19-6).
The Glory led most of the game until Shannon Johnson’s layup gave the Quest a 56-55 lead with 5:39 remaining.
McCrimmon’s three-pointer with 48 seconds left gave Atlanta a 67-63 lead, but Columbus cut the lead to 67-65 on Tonya Edwards’ layup. McCrimmon countered with another three-pointer with six seconds to play.
Philadelphia 68, Portland 56--Adrienne Goodson scored 23 points as the Rage (10-15) beat the Power before 4,947 at Portland, Ore.
Natalie Williams led Portland (17-9) with 17 points and 17 rebounds.
