Cal Lutheran University has received two grants to fund programs in teacher training, student mentoring and human resources management.

The grants, totaling $16,900, were awarded by the Aid Assn. for Lutherans, a program that helps Lutheran colleges and universities formulate and finance educational enhancement ideas.

“We really rely on these Lutheran bodies to support the students who come from Lutheran churches to the university,” said Della Greenlee, director of grants and scholarships at Cal Lutheran.

The group gave $10,000 to teacher and student programs, including two new mentoring programs for female students and incoming freshmen.

The other grant will be applied to management issues. A consultant from the assistance group will work with university officials to develop new human resources strategies.
