Claire Hoffman; First Woman on B of A Board

Claire Giannini Hoffman, 92, the first woman appointed to the board of Bank of America and daughter of the bank’s founder, A.P. Giannini. She was born Dec. 30, 1904, the year her father started the bank in San Francisco. She was also a member of the board of Sears, Roebuck & Co. and a member of the Board of Governors of the USO and Junior Achievement Inc. An accomplished horsewoman, she kept a stable at Champagne Paddock, her property in Woodside, Calif. On Saturday of respiratory failure at Seven Oaks, the Giannini family’s historic home.
