Bloomberg News

Clark Construction Group Inc. plans to buy Guy Atkinson Co., a San Bruno-based heavy-construction company that has been seeking a buyer since it filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Court reorganization in August. Terms of the transaction, which is subject to Bankruptcy Court approval, were not disclosed. Closely held Clark Construction, a general building contractor, is based in Bethesda, Md. Guy Atkinson markets its construction services to the power, industrial process, paper, mining and other industries. It had been in talks with Boise, Idaho-based Morrison Knudsen Corp., which withdrew its bid last week after a Bankruptcy Court rejected Guy Atkinson’s plan to reimburse the construction company for all due-diligence expenses. It’s too early to discuss what will happen to Guy Atkinson employees and management, the company said. Guy Atkinson shares rose 84 cents to close at $2.19 on Nasdaq; Morrison Knudsen shares rose 6 cents to $9.63 on the New York Stock Exchange.
