Two men who robbed a Long Beach supermarket, firing several shots as they made their getaway, remain at large, Long Beach police said Friday.

The men entered a Ralphs Supermarket in the 1900 block of Lakewood Boulevard at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, confronted the store manager and demanded money, police spokeswoman Maria Mendez-Lopez said.

One of the suspects brandished a high-powered semiautomatic weapon, Mendez-Lopez said.

A shopper who witnessed the robbery followed the suspects out to the parking lot, where he saw them get into a tan or champagne, 4-door 1989 Honda Accord, she said.

The car had been stolen in Los Angeles on Monday, she said.

As the suspects were driving away, one of them became aware that they had been followed. He fired several shots out of the window, hitting two vehicles in the parking lot, Mendez-Lopez said. No one was injured.
