Mary Lai Fong Jue; Ventura Homemaker

Mary Lai Fong Jue of Ventura, a homemaker, died Wednesday at home following a lengthy illness. She was 81.
Jue was born Nov. 16, 1916, in China and lived in Ventura County for 48 years.
She immigrated to the United States from the city of Guangzhou, formerly known as Canton, in 1949. Family members said she took great pride in becoming an American citizen. The United States, she would tell them, held greater opportunity for her family.
Jue was an accomplished seamstress, specializing in needlework.
She is survived by her husband, John; sons Raymond and Herman, both of Glendale; daughter Nora Kenny of Ventura; and four grandchildren.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura. Burial will follow in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
