Collision Briefly Closes Freeway Lane
Traffic backed up more than two miles on the Ventura Freeway on Tuesday morning after a two-vehicle collision closed one northbound lane just south of Seaward Avenue for about an hour, authorities said.
No one was injured.
The accident occurred when a motorist attempted to pass a tractor-trailer and drifted into one of the truck’s gas tanks beneath the cab, rupturing it, said California Highway Patrol Officer Steve Reid.
The two vehicles stopped on the freeway’s right shoulder, but authorities closed one lane to clean up the spilled gas.
Traffic was backed up nearly to Victoria Avenue, Reid said.
