An Irvine man was in custody this week in Wisconsin after allegedly attacking his wife, abducting two of their children and bolting across the country, police said Monday.
John Yung Chung, 35, was being held without bail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment and spousal abuse, according to Irvine Police spokesman Lt. Tom Hume.
The children, ages 10 and 11, were returned unharmed to their mother shortly after Chung’s arrest Thursday in Pleasant Prairie, Wis., Hume said. Chung was expected to be returned to California in upcoming weeks to stand trial, police said.
